Journal Responsibilities:
Assumes responsibility for all phases of the Journal of College Admission including establishing production schedules; receiving, distributing and organizing new manuscripts; writing and editing copy; designing/laying out each issue; proofing galleys; supervising layout and galley changes; sending completed boards to printer; approving blue lines, coordinating mailing, developing ideas for articles and special editions and managing all schedules and deadlines in consultation with the Director, Communications, Publications & Technology.
Receives and distributes Journal articles to the Editorial Board for their approval. Maintains index of Journal articles, both in print and electronic mediums. Prepares for placement on the web site summaries of Journal articles.
Assists in the copyrighting, editing, proofing, and production of related
NACAC publications as time and other production schedules permit. Responds to member inquiries and research questions regarding professional publications.
Serves as staff liaison and support to Journal Editorial Board. Assists in the development of articles, opinion pieces, etc. for publication on behalf of the association. Reviews and updates copyright procedures for all new and previously published NACAC publications.
Carries out other publication assignments at the discretion of the Director, Communications, Publications & Technology or Assistant Director. Assists with proofing and editing of the NACAC Bulletin. With the Editorial Board, plans an educational session for the NACAC national conference.
Graphic Design Responsibilities:
Develops and executes original creative design concepts and layout for a variety of projects, including the Journal of College Admission; Annual Report; Membership Directory; State of College Admission; legislative and conference materials; National College Fair registration and exhibitor publications; and other projects as required.
Aids Web design efforts, including developing graphic elements such as electronic banners, templates and ads for the Web site and other electronic venues in conjunction with the assistant director.
Manages design projects with outside vendors (designers, printers, mailhouses, etc.) to meet established schedules and deadlines. Collaborates on defining and maintaining an identified look for print and electronic materials.
Coordinates with departments to develop graphic design/materials as needed.
Conducts staff training on NACAC design guidelines.
